Which cleanse is right for me?
Our 1, 2, and 3 day cleanses are designed to fit the needs and lifestyles of most people.
1 day cleanse – if you have no previous experience with fasting or if you want a gentler experience. You want a quick flush and beauty boost and do not have time for a longer cleanse. 2-3 days cleanse – you already had some experience in cleansing and fasting and you need to make a bigger change.
How should I prepare?
Include plenty of raw vegetables and fruits in your diet for two days before the 1st day to minimize shocking your system. While on the cleanse consume at least 2-3 liters of distilled water/day. Herbal teas may be consumed throughout the fast, once or twice per day or more if you wish. Peppermint tea is good for its calming and strengthening effect on the nerves, and for indigestion, nausea, and flatulence.
Fasts should be ended as gradually as they are entered. After the cleanse, consume a diet rich in raw fruits and vegetables. Eat very small, frequent meals made from fresh, whole foods.
Can everyone do this?
Pregnant and lactating women should abstain.
Ask your doctor if you have diabetes or other chronic health problems. Any fast for more than three days should be done under the supervision of a qualified health care professional. We don’t recommend doing the cleanse before the age of 16. It is safer for teens to learn healthy eating habits instead of doing a detox.
Are there side effects?
Not everyone responds to a cleanse in the same way. Some experiences include heightened energy levels, a feeling of lightness and a clarity of mind and emotions. Others experience fatigue, aches and pains, emotional duress, acne, headaches, rashes, or cold and flu-like symptoms. These reactions are sometimes called healing crises, which are caused by temporarily increased levels of toxins in the body due to elimination and cleansing. All these may be more pronounced if you typically eat a diet high in processed foods. These symptoms are not serious and will quickly pass. To alleviate any of these symptoms, have a lymphatic massage or a 15 minute-sauna. In longer fasts, you may opt to have a colon cleanse session with a licensed practitioner.
Can I exercise during the cleanse?
Yes! Exercise aids in the flushing and detoxification process. The point of the cleanse is to create movement, to help your body pass things along. We don’t, however suggest any weight lifting or strength training routines during your cleanse. We suggest brisk walking, yoga or maybe even a swim. Take it easy you are cleansing!
What if I get hungry?
Here are our tips for coping with hunger:
1. Consume your juices slowly and conscientiously. Take a moment to sit with hunger instead of reacting to it. Drink a glass of water slowly.
2. You may add 1 tbsp of chia seeds to any drink to give you an energy boost especially before you exercise.
3. We encourage you not to chew/masticate during the cleanse to rest and re-boot the digestive process. We want your body to disengage from its learned program or digestive memory. However, should you find it extremely difficult to do this, you may take a few pieces of preservative free rice crackers or sea weed snacks.
Will I be in the bathroom constantly?
You will urinate frequently. Some have experienced more than the usual frequency of bowel movements. However, you will be able to go about your day normally!
Is there anything else I need to do?
We strongly recommend the following: dry skin brushing; a 15 minute steam/sauna; and a lymphatic drain massage to speed up the detoxification process, especially during the 2-3 Day Cleanse. We have seen fantastic results in our clients who include these services during the Cleanse. But if you choose not to avail of these services, simply commit to daily gentle exercise. Many people enjoy doing yoga at this time which gives the internal organs a good boost.
Will I lose weight during the cleanse?
Those who have excess weight will lose some pounds and notice a distinct reduction in bloating, especially on the 3-Day Cleanse. People lose anywhere from 1 to 4 lbs a day. Those who do not need to lose weight may find that the slower digestive process causes them to conserve energy and want more rest. However, you are continuing to consume nutrients so you will not go into an extreme weight loss situation. If you are concerned, snack on some raw fruits and vegetables. Typically the body finds its own way to balance, so our advice is to respond to its cues.
Should I continue to take my multivitamins?
This is a personal choice. The rationale for multivitamins is that we are not receiving these basic nutrients from our food. However, by consuming the juice of over 20 lbs of fresh herbs, veggies and fruits a day, you’re already consuming the best whole food based multivitamin on the market.
Is there a specific order for the juices to be taken?
You can consume the juices in any order provided it is taken in 2-hour intervals.
